How is Shipping done on YORenters? What is the shipping and return process?

This may differ from your typical online shopping experience. As instead of buying and selling, you’re renting and lending. So the shipping is done both ways from user to user. Thus, there are 2 shipping arrangements made in any typical rental.

Question is... who arranges the shipping?
Answer is... both the Owner, and the Renter.
The process is fairly simple... with a few quirks.

The Owner will pay for and arrange the initial delivery of the item, to the Renter.
The Renter has paid for their shipping arrangement when they made the order, and will arrange for return shipping once the rental period is over.

Here’s an overview of the Shipping Process.

1. Order 101

During checkout, Renters will have shipping options to choose from at the checkout screen. These are based on the shipping address and may differ depending on the weight of the item, and the distance between the Owner and the Renter.

The shipping fees shown here are actually the shipping fee for the return of the item. Not the initial delivery of the item from Owner to Renter. So if you’re a Renter, this is actually the shipping fee for your shipping arrangement when you have to return the item back to the Owner!

2. The Shipping Order

As an Owner, once an Order is confirmed you will get the notification to proceed with arranging delivery. The Shipping Order is arranged and paid for via the Order page. Own methods of delivery are currently unavailable but will be introduced in a future update.

Don’t worry if you’re afraid of incurring losses as an Owner, as every rental order has a minimum charge requirement of RM15.00 which is enough to cover the shipping price paid for the initial delivery.

3. Air Waybill

As an Owner, once you’ve paid for your shipping arrangements, an Air Waybill (AWB) will be available for printing on your Order Management page. The AWB will be attached to your parcel as proof and requirement of your shipping. The AWB will consist of sections, mainly the ‘Courier Copy’ and the ‘Receiver Copy’ of the AWB.

The ‘Courier Copy’ will be attached to the parcel and must be scanned at your chosen shipping courier office or at any eligible collection point vendor.
The ‘Receiver Copy’ on the other hand, will be your own copy as proof of your purchase in the case of a dispute.

4. A New Delivery

Once packed, drop-off your parcel to your chosen courier branch or convenient store near you. Such points can be anywhere from your nearest MyNews, 99 Speedmart, Caring Pharmacy, 7-Eleven and many more.

Once the parcel has been sent to the collection office, the Order status will change from [Owner to Ship] to [Owner Shipped], and from there you’ll know that the parcel is on its way to the Renter.

As the Renter, once you’ve received the package, the Order status will then change to [Renter Received] which indicates the official start of the Rental.

5. The Renter Sends Back

Once the Rental Period is over, the Order status will then change to [Renter to Ship] and from there, the Renter will need to return the item back to the Owner. An Air Waybill (AWB) can be found when accessing the Order Management page as a Renter to prepare for printing and shipping.

As the Renter, print and paste the ‘Courier Copy’ AWB onto the same parcel of which the item arrived in. If the initial packaging can’t be used, use an alternate package for the item. Keep the ‘Courier Copy’ of the AWB for yourself.

6. Return of the Item

As the Renter, once you have the item neatly packed, drop the item off at your chosen drop-off point, courier branch, post office, or any eligible collection point such as Mail Boxes Etc (MBE) or similar. At the drop-off counter, the ‘Courier Copy’ AWB will be scanned and acknowledged.

Snap a photo of the parcel at the collection office as well as your ‘Receiver Copy’ of the AWB. This is to protect you against any possible dispute that may come your way. Once the AWB has been scanned, Order status will change from [Renter to Ship] to [Renter Shipped].

7. Item Check

Before sending and receiving any packages, it is important to always check the condition of the item to make sure it is in an acceptably perfect condition.

Check if the item is identical to its description in its item listing and ensure the item is in the same or better condition at all times.

If there are some discrepancies or damages, a dispute may be raised. Results may be subjective, but general wear and tear is expected along the course of a rental.
